I had many request for a lesson on this song; The Old School, composed by Bob Margolin who played in Muddy’s band. I rearranged the song and added several elements of other players like eg Robert Lockwood Jr. In this video I’m teaching the introduction. You can hear the full song here jp.youtube.com Lesson part 2 (the verse) www.youtube.com Lesson Part 3 (the solo) www.youtube.com Tuning for this song is open G, DGDGBD from low to high. Happy pickin’! TABLATURE for the complete song (intro, verse and solo)AVAILABLE THROUGH MY WEBSITE www.daddystovepipe.com cost €7.5 Several free tabs to some lessons available at that website as well. FREE TABLATURE TO THIS SONG if you order my Delta Slide Guitar Lesson dvd More info here www.youtuberecords.com

tuning
DGDGBD
both e and E to D ( no E in G chord, if you strum 5 strings from the G bass you get a G chord now)

im jus learning this tune this is the best slide tune i ever heard im playin it on a B its a little too low on the bass strings but im a noobie and am jus messin with diffrent tunings..i tend to tune the strings down and tune them to an open e shape is that the right idea? ..im scots so this is not in ma blood but i love this sound..it messes with ma soul

Thanks for the kind comment.
Tuning is DGDGBD, low to high
Your way of tuning, to a E chord, is called open E tuning and in not the tuning I use in this song

this stuff is way harder than it looks. the vibrato and tone are the most difficult to maintain.

You can obviously play, and as a long time guitarist that shares you r love of music, I have just one constructive critisicm. Your playing stands on it’s own, but possibly a more patient style of teaching would help you students. I gratefully thank you for sharing this, as I am new to the slide/ Delta blues, and I will be following all of your very helpful knowledge. Thanks again brother.

@ jsacks222 : those lessons were uploaded in the days of a 100mb max upload, hence the short time lessons
my latest lessons feature tablature (some free) and this makes explanation for the left hand not necessary anymore.
